You may not have heard of the Sequim Irrigation Festival, but it has been around for 119 years. This festival, located in Clallam County, is so large, the city of sets aside 10 days for the festivities which runs this year from May 1st through May 10th. Events are held is various locations with the main hub found in the downtown area. This year’s event includes the annual street fair, a grand parade, a kids-sized parade where they are the stars as well, a farmer’s market, an operetta performance, a juried art show, carnival, strongman competition, fun run, car show, golf tournament, logging show, truck and tractor pull, and fireworks.

Calling all gameboys and girls, The Seattle iFest is a video game lover’s dream come true. The Seattle iFest will be held on May 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Seattle Center’s Armory. Hosted by the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE), the free festival features game designers and industry specialists sharing tip and tricks to budding independent game developers or really, anyone with a love for video games. The event will also feature live music and indie designers showing off their latest designs.

Though Cinco de Mayo is actually the 5th of May, El Centro-de la Raza is celebrating it on Saturday, May 3rd from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Located on Beacon Hill, the family-friendly celebration includes live music, children’s activities, arts and crafts, displays of cultural traditions and attire, traditional Mexican food and a dance/baile from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Admission and parking is free.

This one is just for adults. Located at the beautiful grounds of Craven Farm, The Snohomish Hard Cider Festival highlights local cider makers from all around the Pacific Northwest for the ultimate meet and greet. This year’s fest takes place on Saturday, May 2nd from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 a person which includes five tastings and an appetizer plate. The event also encourages designated drivers by offering entry for just $10 which also includes an appetizer plate.
This special four-day event celebrating the music of jazz in a New Orleans atmosphere will be held from Wednesday, May 6th through Saturday, May 9th in various locations in downtown Ballard. This year’s festival include the “Brotherhood of the Drum,” a “guitar summit,” a “jazz walk” where guests can witness 21 different jazz groups in 11 different locations for a single ticket price, a mainstage concert and a Swedish pancake brunch because you can’t hold an event in Ballard without Swedish pancakes.
